Service Shop

Our service shop has everything you need to keep your bike in tip-top condition. We offer professional bike advice, repairs, and sales in an inclusive, no-fuss environment. We love working on vintage & modern bikes with mechanical systems. We stock a variety of new and used components to suit every style and budget. Looking for a refurbished bike? We have those too.

We are a full service shop, but we are a specialty shop in the sense that we are not able to work on everything that comes our way. The Bike Kitchen politely declines to work on electronic shifting, computer systems, power meters, scooters or electric scooters. We want to be able to proudly stand behind our repairs and unfortunately these systems fall outside of our areas of expertise and we do not own the necessary tools or repair parts to work on those things. You are always welcome to use our DIY Instructional space to work on those systems or we can refer you to some of our friends around the city for servicing.

Basic DIY
(DO IT YOURSELF)

Use our DIY tool share to fix your bike - no experience required. Our expert mechanics are available to assist! Inflating tires and oiling chains is free to do.

We have 4 repair stands for usage and a extensive collection of tools that you can learn to use!
Note
Repairs that we are not able to help with during Basic DIY are: wheel building, tubeless tire installations, hydraulic bleeds, bearing presses, frame facing/tapping, use of power tools or blow torches, repairs relating to electronic components.
DIY repair intake closes at 5:00pm, & repairs stop at 5:30pm for end of day cleanup.

$12 per Hour (charged in 15 minute increments)

If you would like to use tools you are required to be wearing closed-toe shoes (aka no sandals, flip-flops). This is a working shop with a lot of heavy, sharp tools that can easily fall onto your feet. We are also regularly using power tools in the space, so please come with proper footwear.

We provide masks free of charge for our employees and any customers/volunteers who wish to wear one and have 3 HEPA air purifiers total running throughout the shop. Please help protect your community by staying home if you have any symptoms indicative of COVID-19, or you have had COVID in the last 2 weeks.

Work closely with our most experienced mechanics on very technical repairs that fall outside the realm of our Basic DIY services!

Some examples of things we can help you out with: wheel building, tubeless tire installations, hydraulic bleeds, bearing presses, frame facing/tapping, consultation on major bike upgrades or planning a big bike trip.

Note
Repairs that we are not able to help with during Advanced DIY are: use of power tools or blow torches, repairs relating to electronic components.

$80 per hour (charged in 15 minutes increments, minimum 30 min, maximum 4 hours)

Available times: Monday to Friday 11am-5pm. Advanced DIY repairs will have to be booked ahead of time over email and will be subject to the availability of our most experienced mechanics.

Contact us at info@thebikekitchen.ca to book a time slot now!

Advanced DIY (Do It YOurself)

Full service

We are always happy to work on your bike and get it tuned up so you can get out there and go on some adventures!

The first step in booking in a repair will be to bring your bike for a free assessment. Assessments are done on a drop-in basis and take about ~15 minutes, provided there aren’t other folks also waiting for assessments ahead of you in line. Once our mechanics have looked at your bike they will provide you with an estimate for cost and turnaround time and then they will schedule an appointment date for your bike to be dropped off and worked on. If you would like to leave your bike with us until the repair is completed we can usually store it for a few days.
Note: During the busy season (Apr-May & Aug-Oct) we may not have the physical space to store your bike and we may pivot to Drop Off only appointments.

Walk-in repairs are welcome, repair schedule permitting. Tune-up service packages by appointment only.

Sorry, we do not book appointments by phone or email; however, inquiries are always welcome.
